Children & Fire Safety

If a fire started in your home, would your kids know what to do? If you are a parent you need to ensure your child’s safety in the event of a fire. Teaching them general fire safety and specific strategies for emergency situations can help keep them safe.  Here are some quick tips you should put in place to keep you kids safe in case of fire:

  • Keep any matches or lighters out of reach of children to avoid curiosity turning into disaster.

  • Install a smoke alarm in your child’s room.

  • Practice a home escape plan with your children and family in case of fire.

  • Teach your children to understand the “stop, drop, cover and roll” drill.

  • Make sure that your children know their address and how to call 911 after exiting the house.
